tertium non data was formed in 1994 as a collaborative side-project between the two elements known as john bergin of trust obey andc17h19no3 and brett smith also from trust obey as well as caul. the first tertium non data recording was self-released in 1994. it was followed in 1995 by two more self-released collections, the vacant chair and lust. recording sessions in 1996 and 1997 produced more material which has yet to be released.
two full length cds have been released on crowd control activities. the first album, titled the third is not given, was released in april 1999. it collects remastered versions of the more accomplished tracks from the vacant chair and lust, as well as two unreleased tracks from 1996/97, and three new tracks recorded in 1999.
